Women Impacting Storebrand Excellence™ Influencing the Private Label Industry

Posted on 01 November 2018

  • In 2011, a small group of women in the private label industry met during the PLMA show in Chicago to discuss how they could create an organization to cultivate diversity principles and expand leadership opportunities for women. The following year, WISE was introduced to the industry. Now, six years later, that group of women lead Women Impacting Storebrand Excellence, WISE, a private brands leadership organization with 50 plus industry partners, a membership of more than 300, and a volunteer board of directors of 15 industry professionals.

“The issue of diversity in leadership goes far beyond any argument based on being fair,” states Peggy Davies, WISE Chair and founder. “Numerous studies indicate that leadership balance directly contributes to improving a company’s financial performance through increased productivity, greater innovation, better products, better decision-making, and higher employee retention and satisfaction.”

To accomplish its mission of championing diversity and inclusion while driving profitable growth for business, WISE offers numerous career development opportunities, educational resources and industry networking events. Webinars to develop and expand professional skills, a formal mentoring program and volunteer opportunities on WISE committees are ways both men and women benefit from membership in the organization.
